Abu Simbul - November 2005

The Great and Small Temple of Abu Simbul are spectacular pieces of work. Interestingly, both temples were completely taken apart and moved to avoid the flood waters caused by the building of the High Dam which generates enough electricity for the entire country plus some to sell and give away. The Great Temple is dedicated to King Ramsses II and the small temple is dedicated to Ramsses's favourite wife Queen Nefertari.
